City of Mesa/ADOT, Consolidated Canal to Horne to 8th Street, Multi-Use Path

This City of Mesa Parks and Recreation project was located along the consolidated canal and is part of the City’s recreational path system. CEI was responsible for the construction administration and inspection of constructing a multi-use concrete path, modifications to the existing irrigation system, installation of new lighting, and removal of miscellaneous trees.

City of Mesa/ADOT, Eastern Canal to Greenfield Road, Multi-Use Path

This City of Mesa Parks and Recreation project was located in the northwest quadrant of East Pueblo Avenue and South Greenfield Road within the City of Mesa. CEI oversaw all construction administration for this work consisting of the construction of a multi-use concrete path, pre-fabricated bridge, sidewalk ramps, installation of new lighting, a drainage system, and other incidental work.

City of Chandler, Western Canal Shared Use Path

This $1.1M project consisted of constructing a new 10-foot wide concrete shared use path, pathway lighting, irrigation, four street crossings and three pedestrian rest areas. CEI provided construction office administration at the project field office.

SR 101L, CAP Canal to Scottsdale Road, Landscape and Irrigation

CEI worked for a Resident Landscape Architect to perform the field inspection, office documentation and verification of payment for this $5M landscaping construction project. For this four-mile section of freeway, CEI was responsible for verifying plant layouts and locations, performing plant inspections, checking quality of plants, and overseeing the installation of plants along with the irrigation system.

ADOT, SR 101L, 19th Avenue to CAP Canal, Landscape and Irrigation

CEI, as a sub-consultant to a landscape architect, performed the field inspection, office documentation and verification of payment for this 55-mile, $4M landscape construction project. The work consisted of the planting applications trees, shrubs, and cacti; placing granite and rock mulch; construction of a complete and functioning irrigation system; installation of metal handrails on walls; and incidental work.

CEI provided Project Management/Construction Management services for this $4M CM@Risk project. Project management services included managing the designer's plans for constructability, costs, and scheduling for two design packages - Lindsay Road Waterline and park improvements at Recker Road under the Santan Freeway.

City of Tempe/ADOT, ASU- Spence Avenue Multi-Use Path

This Arizona State University path located on Rural Road begins west of Sunset Drive and extends west for an approximate length of 0.11 miles. CEI’s work consisted of full construction administration and inspection services for the construction of a 6- to 2-foot wide concrete sidewalk and integral bike path for the length of the project, the installation of trees, sod, decomposed granite, a functioning irrigation system, lighting, grading, and other incidental work.

MCDOT, Ellsworth Road, Germann to Ray Roads

CEI performed the construction management for MCDOT on this $15M roadway and drainage improvement project in the City of Mesa and Town of Queen Creek. The project included widening three and one half miles of roadway from two lanes to an above-grade four lane median-divided arterial. Significant to this project was the removal of the low flow crossings, modifying the FCDMC Powerline Floodway, and the realignment of the drainage channel.

CEI’s current contract includes providing on-call construction administration and inspection services to ADOT for projects with a construction budget up to $10M. The complexity of any given project can range from a local government pedestrian bridge that is Federally-funded (where the local agency is not certified by ADOT to administer their own Federal projects); to an urban freeway auxiliary lane addition; to a rural highway safety improvement project; and everything in-between.
